i have a bulging disc in my neck that traps the main nerve root to my arm. and have opted not to have surgery done on my neck but when ever i ask for stronger pain meds than Lora tab 7.5 he keeps telling me that he would have to refer me to a pain management center and i have no idea what that is
thanx in advance

I have a dislocated disc in my neck and have been in a lot of pain. My doctor prescribed me the duragesic patch but I don't want something that strong, besides I haven't been taking any opiates to build up any tolerance to the patch anyway. I called him the other day requesting something different and he suggested I start the patch. I have to go through pain management for this problem but I won't see him for a month. How can I get some regular pain meds from the doc? I'm in pain and I need them. I think that patch is too strong for me and people have died on that. What should I do?

I had a total knee replacement 2 months ago. I'm still home recovering. My surgeon is greatly decreasing my pain meds and I'd like to find a pain management doctor that understands. I have Regence BCBS insurance. Thank you,

Hi,
Being new to sever Arthritis and being relatively young, I wonder if I would be better off living where there is very little cold weather as I am having a rough time of it up here in NJ, pain meds and all.
Any idea if it matters for the better that a person in my situation would be better off in a warmer place, or not?
THANKS!

Do they try to tell you that you don't feel the pain?
Do they try to tell you to do without the pain meds?
I'm confused and can't seem to get a straight answer.
My husband gets his pain meds from his civillian Dr but the VA won't give it to him unless he take pain management classes.

for your pain meds? I have arthritis and severe knee problems and after seeing me for a few months my dr has referred me to a pain clinic. What exactly do they do there that is so different?

I have been in pain management for 4 months now and have not had one problem until this month, and go figure, this is the month that I have to see my dr before he will give me anymore refills. I had kidney stones and my oxycontin and percocets weren't touching the pain, so I went to the ER and got injected dilaudid for the pain. Will this show up differently than the pain meds i've already been prescribed by my Dr?
