ok so im writing a paper on different types of pain management. it has to be a ten page paper and i think i might go towards the aspect of one type of pain management per page. like hypnosis on one, therapy on another, and medication on yet another. if anyone has any ideas on if i should go on a different path on this paper, or types of pain management that i havent answered.. would be greatly appreciated! thanks! ten points for the most help!

Take some off the Fentynal patch 12mcg and put them on Methadone 2.5mg twice daily if the patch wasn't helping with the persons pain?
Wouldn't that be less pain medication?

I recently filed chapter 13 can my pain management doctor refuse to continue care because of this?

A few months ago I got into some legal issues over some problems I had with cymbalta my dr. took me off of this without weening me first it is antidepressent but used to help me with pain management and my dr. was subpoenaed to my hearing. Back when I had these issues I called the phone nurse and she refused to help me although I explained the horrible side effects the meds gave me. I think this is the real reason for my Dr's Decision but not sure. Even in my follow up appt. he agreed the meds cause my problems. I'm 28 and had to file bankrupt due to my time off work. From age 22 till now i've had 3 surguries on my same disc in my lower back and it has cause my much grief i've never had a criminal history until I got charged with battery (for slapping someone) over my cymbalta withdraw and it sounds stupid but unless you've had horrible side effects from medication withdraw then you might understand, plus I was also prescribed 50 mcg of fentanyl pain patch which was also horrible.

Pain Management How much is to much?

I am curious and would like others opinions.
I have been dealing with throbbing pain since a accident when a very early teen. Over 20 years now.
I had yet another accident within the last 3-4 years. Causing another host of painful outcomes.
Anyhoo I have been talking with others who do not understand that I do not take so many pain killers as to be "out of it". These people do not understand. The group of peeps (it is a medication group) seam to think one should not feel any pain what so ever at anytime!
I am curious how many people think it is OK to feel....pain. I mean when it gets real bad I do take something. I am deathly afraid of being (or getting) addicted to pain killers!! I have kids that need me. I see how other people are and do not want to be this way.
At the moment if I went to the doctors for my arms (tennis elbow? I have RA) I would have to have very painful injections with needle.
My motto Pain is just a way to no you are alive.....

What is your opinion?
I thought I would add I do have a seizure disorder which makes some pain killers off limits to me.
RA is rheumatoid arthritis, some mornings I can not walk, move.

What can I expect from a Dr. specializing in Pain Management?

I have an appt with a Pain Management Dr. next Friday and am wondering what to expect. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and am currently taking Tramadol, which is not very effective. What is the likelihood that the Dr. will prescribe a stronger pain medication? I am in a lot of pain. : (

I am not taking any medication because I have a reaction to all the pain medication, what do you do for pain? I use to work....it has been two years since I have been diagnosed. I am looking for a better nero. Thanks

I have a moderate case of juvenile rheumatoid arthritis and have been on pretty strong medications for it since I was 2 years old. I currently have a 3 1/2 month old and am breast feeding so I can not take any medication. I am in a lot of pain but do not want to sacrifice the breast feeding so I am looking for another option. Example: a special diet or anything???
