I have a herniated disc in my back. It has caused me lots of pain for the last three years. I had a tooth removed last week and the doctor gave me percocet. This killed all my back pain. I am going to begin pain management soon. Is percocet a drug that is prescribed by pain management doctors?

I just moved here from Florida where I had a great pain doctor. I am on low doses of Methadone and Vicodin for breakthough pain.I don't want to get more or higher doses. I just want to continue on the same things that's all. I have a lot of pain due to my health conditions. I am just scared of what to expect in Indiana when it comes to doctors and this type of thing. I am scared because I can't afford to go through withdrawls because I can't be under stress at all. Thanks.
My own cancer doctor has asked me to find another doctor to manage my pain and anxiety because he does not like prescribing Narcotics and Xanax. I have found that those that dont have anything physically wrong obtain these doctors easily.
I've been disabled due to 3 failed spine surgeries and am now unable to work. My pain management doctor has retired and I am finding most doctors are refusing to take chronic pain patients. I live on a "neighbor island" (non-Oahu) and have heard it's next to impossible to find ANY let alone a NEW one. Why?

I am 37 years old.
I've been referred to a pain management specialist who I will see this week.
I have health insurance but I am unsure how much I should expect to pay for this visit.
Will there be an additional cost besides the copay?
Anyone with experience with PM doctors please help! Thanks!
