My friend had a boyfriend 3 years ago. At that time, 3 years ago, her boyfriend had symmetrical joint pain and stiffness and swelling. 3 years later she has reactive arthritis? Is it possible that she may have STD such as Chlamydia? Is it possible that Chlamydia to trigger reactive arthritis 3 years after the infection of chlamydia? CAN Chlamydia infection trigger reactive arthritis 3 years after infection?

Both chlamydia and HIV [AIDS] can cause reactive arthritis. 3 years seems to be a bit long afterwards, though, so it seems that she probably has had a more recent infection.
yah, ofcourse.
I have reactive arthritis. What I have read says that it is usually triggered by an untreated bacterial infection, usually chlamydia pneumonia. First, I found out that I had Lyme Disease. I had it for several years without treatment, because I didn’t know I had it. Possible that the Lyme triggered it, but I also was tested for chlamydia pneumonia, which I also had, and didn’t know about. Chlamydia pneumonia is not an STD. I am not positive, but I don’t think you can catch chlamydia pneumonia from her. Lyme Disease, on the other hand is believed to be sexually transmitted, by many specialists, and victims. There is a huge controversy over this, and many Dr’s believe you can only get Lyme from a tick. Lyme is most closely related to syphilis. The test they use for Lyme, was originally developed for detecting syphilis. Lyme can also cause arthritis, joint pain, inflammation. In my case, I had flare ups in my knees, low back, and shoulders mostly. After the flare up would go away, I would feel pretty normal. Your friend might want to consider a few questions is she an outdoorsy type? ever have strange or recurring rash? ever have a bulls eye shaped rash (dead giveaway) ? Or a list of strange seemingly unrelated symptoms? maybe they come and go. If so, maybe she should find out about Lyme. It’s hard to get good info on LD. a lot of people have turned to Lymenet for information. I would recommend being very careful about researching Lyme. There is a lot of wrong info, and people trying to take advantage of the confusion and desperation of LD victims.
