I was wanting to know if your Dr. could write a refill on pain meds if your under pain management? ?

I have a back injury since 1996. And I've seen the same Dr. with exception of specialist. My Dr. only writes me one prescription at a time no refills. Seems silly since I am under pain management. And this is a long term on going probelm. Life would be much easier if I could get at least 2 refills at a time.
Just wondering?
Thanks...

If you are under pain management, they will not give you a refill on narcotics due to so much street selling going on and fraud.
It is a pain to have to go once a month to get the refills but if you need it, then you need it. However, if you did get a refill and you find that you took your first fill too early and you try to fill the next refill too quick, even the pharmacist would not fill it. They too watch it as well. Well, then you could have it transferred to another pharmacy, but then the new pharmacy would watch it too because of the last fill date. Remember it is against the law to doctor hop as well as pharmacy hop (at least in some states).
Many others , like you, who are taking potentially habit forming drugs, feel the same way. Some take narcotics, obtained from multiple sources, and sell them on the street corner.
Conduct like this, is frowned upon by the DEA, and they often look at doctors prescribing habits of narcotics, to make sure the potential for abuse is minimal. The doctors would like to hold onto their DEA licences to prescribe. So your wish in obtaining medications early is not likely, due to others irresponsible actions with narcotics. Sorry!
