theres that medicine that you can give dogs with arthritis called 'Happy Hips'. how much should i give my dog a day?

Never heard of it. If it is a prescription medication your vet should have given you instructions, if it is over the counter read the package.
Ask your vet.
It should say on the bag. If you have a small dog, the price is ok, but get very expensive for a large dog.
