Pain Management Archives

A few months ago I got into some legal issues over some problems I had with cymbalta my dr. took me off of this without weening me first it is antidepressent but used to help me with pain management and my dr. was subpoenaed to my hearing. Back when I had these issues I called the phone nurse and she refused to help me although I explained the horrible side effects the meds gave me. I think this is the real reason for my Dr's Decision but not sure. Even in my follow up appt. he agreed the meds cause my problems. I'm 28 and had to file bankrupt due to my time off work. From age 22 till now i've had 3 surguries on my same disc in my lower back and it has cause my much grief i've never had a criminal history until I got charged with battery (for slapping someone) over my cymbalta withdraw and it sounds stupid but unless you've had horrible side effects from medication withdraw then you might understand, plus I was also prescribed 50 mcg of fentanyl pain patch which was also horrible.

I have a back injury since 1996. And I've seen the same Dr. with exception of specialist. My Dr. only writes me one prescription at a time no refills. Seems silly since I am under pain management. And this is a long term on going probelm. Life would be much easier if I could get at least 2 refills at a time.

Just wondering?
Thanks...

I haven't seen any writers like Mary Shellie on here.

and even hypnotherapy? Especially if the injuries are service connected.
that's fantastic dee but they don't give out meds that work, that in itself is a huge issue, don't you think?

This question is a study review question, can't find in my book.
these modalities for optimal pain management?

what are remedies for pain management besides drugs?

post-operative pain is not relieved by drugs .what are the other methods to relieve this kind of pain

My husband has TERRIBLE lower back pain and has had it for about a month now. It's getting worse, he doesn't have health insurance, we tried acupuncture, but nothing's helping. At this point, he just needs to manage the pain so he can work. Can anyone help?

Insights as to how workers and their dependents view health care is revealed in a new survey released by the National Business Group and conducted by Hewitt. In order to plan their corporate health care strategies, it is important to be aware of the results of the survey. Help for prescription drugs is high on the list.

Workers might know how to get healthy, but a lot aren't taking action. Most (84%) think making smart decisions in every day life leads to good overall health, and roughly three-quarters (72%) believe good health is a result of getting regular preventive care. Only half of the employees think they do a great or good job of eating healthy, while less than half (46%) reported doing a great or good job of working out on a regular basis. To assist with the high cost of prescription drugs, most employees surveyed rated prescription program assistance very high.

In spite of high satisfaction in health programs, involvement remains low. Workers and dependents say they might know what actions they need to take to get and stay healthy, but involvement in many employer-provided health improvement programs is not as high as businesses would like. Biometric screenings are the most popular programs with online health information tools and health risk questionnaires following closely. The least popular programs were stress management programs and employee assistance programs. For workers that have dependent coverage, a prescription program was the number one satisfying benefit.

Financial motivation is a strong factor in participation but non financial, internal motivators can be just as valuable. Frequently, employers assume that providing financial incentives for participating in programs will increase participation. Nearly half would complete a health-risk questionnaire (HRQ) without any incentive because it is "the right thing to do". Twenty-nine percent would participate in a HRQ for an incentive and almost the same number would complete it if there was a penalty. Further, 44% of workers would participate in a wellness or health improvement program offered by their employer because it is the right thing to do.

I almost died in a car wreck and broke my neck, back, and shattered my face.
