So, my 17 year old daughter, who has been playing basketball for 10 years. She is 6'1" and about 200 lbs. She's been having problems with her knees swelling and a lot of pain. Well, I took her up to U of M to see an orthopedic surgeon who requested an MRI for her knees. The next day she called to say that my daughter has arthritis and that nothing could be done about it. Can this be true? She really wants to continue playing basketball when she goes to college, but the pain is getting worse. Does anyone have any suggestions to help out an athlete?

I can't determine which of what I'm doing makes the pain go away for days after it attacks for few days. I do therapy but it recurred. I put warm bag/warm compress on my lower back now and I use some natural therapy cream made of ginger, virgin coconut oil and peppermint which seems to have stopped the pain so far. I don't know if it's just the nature of arthritis that it stops then recurs at any given time and I don't know anymore whether what i'm doing now is the one that makes the pain stop.

I have a 9 year old Rottweiler (named Belle) who is having some trouble with arthritis. She is becoming more stiff as the nights get colder, I'm doing what I can for her. I let her sleep on my bed, and on the couch when she's in the living room. I am also giving her Bayer Asprin (I asked my vet about the appropriate dose), but she is still limping a bit through out the day. Is there anything else I can do the ease her arhritis pain without having to put her on a perscription medication?

My grandmother suffers from intense gouty arthritis and has been hospitalized numerous times in the previous years. Other than changing her diet and excercise, are there any highly renowned supplements that have had alot of positive reviews? Cherry supplements seem to be popular but I cant seem to find any that encompass a variety of natural herbs. Any advice is appreciated, thanks.
