Can I get a second opinion for my pain management?

I feel like my doctor has done all he can do and my RSD is flaring up again after another knee surgery. I know I signed an agreement with them that I wouldn't see 2 doctors at the same time, but can't I at least talk to another pain doctor? I just want to talk to them, he is rxing me medication at the moment that is working good enough.
But, I don't want to be on medication my whole life, so I wanted to get a second opinion. Is this allowed??

Depending on your pain management contract and what it says.
Normally a patient is allowed to see another doctor for a second opinion but I would schedule an appointment with your current doctor and discuss this with him.
I am sure if you explain that you are still very uncomfortable and you bring a pain diary with you to your appointment your current doctor will do what he can to see to it you are comfortable.
People don’t understand sometimes that doctors are so busy they become a bit overwhelmed and it is so very important that patients take an active role in their health care.
Try writing down every time you hurt bad enough to need a pain pill and why you were doing and what you did to try and relieve the pain before and after taking your meds.
Doctors are also under the watchful eye of FDA and sometimes DEA so the more evidence you provide your doctor of your pain the more comfortable he or she may feel in prescribing accordingly.
